ABHM and Dr. Cameron - and the city of Milwaukee - serve as rich reminders of the legacies of Juneteenth and its relentless significance as a holiday. As purveyors of Juneteenth in its purest expression, Dr. James Cameron founded ABHM on June 19, 1988. ABHM invites you to celebrate a longstanding Milwaukee tradition of Juneteenth (June 19th) both at the citywide festival hosted by the Northcott Neighborhood House and then visit us to learn more about the history behind this important American holiday. Milwaukeeans of all ages are invited to ABHM for an afternoon of bingo featuring local Milwaukee history, free pizza, a Wish Wall, and arts and crafts for kids. Griots (docents) will be on site for short engagements in the museum gallery and to share the history of Juneteenth. More than a day of celebration, Juneteenth is also time to reflect on our history and decide the way forward together.
